Just do it

I guess like any creator you want your product to be perfect, but no matter what you are going to have people that like what you do and those that do not. Everyone has different tastes. Case in point there is a well-known author  Chuck Palahniuk who wrote Fight Club that later became a hit movie wrote a book called Pygmy worse book I ever read. Written in pidgin English you could hardly understand. Then there was a weird rape scene involving two boys in a bathroom it was something I wouldn't waste my time to read. After a few chapters, I threw it away. Someone out there must like his books because he's a best selling author.

Stephen King this guy has written some great books and some dogs. What I may consider dogs others may consider gems. The Dark Tower series, for example, was weird and confusing. A story of a western style gunfighter that is on a quest to find a special tower. He gets attacked by lobster creatures, then he finds a portal and lands in modern N.Y inhabiting someone else's mind. Weird and hard to follow, but there is a huge fan base that loves this series.

We all don't listen to the same music and we don't all like the same books, but I guess if we did life would be boring. So, if you feel like creating something just do it and don't worry about what others may say.

New book out

My latest book A Book of Thoughts- The Whitebook is out. It is out on Barnes and Noble as an ebook and should be out shortly on Amazon. Completely different than anything I've previously written, but a cool little book with a lot of info an insight.

I named it the white book kind of stealing the Beatles idea on the White Album. It made for a simple cover and saved me from hiring another graphic designer. If it does well I will follow it up with a couple similar books.

A short easy read, but packed with good information.

Blogging

Besides working on my next book I am doing quite a bit of blogging which I enjoy just as much.
I'm mainly concentrating on this blog and Can We Save America
and Understanding Argentine Tango . I do have a couple other blogs but these two are the ones I'm most passionate about.

The beauty of the blogs is you can write what is on your mind without the big commitment of writing a book. A lot of time and effort goes into a book and making the time can be a challenge. I have a couple more books in the works which I hope to get out this year. Let's see what happens but for now the Miami Vice book seems to be doing the best.

Miami Vice Audible

First one of my books to go on audible Memories of Miami Vice is selling more on audible than on digital format. Which I find interesting. The book is actually my second non fiction book I also wrote a short book on how to be an entrepreneur.

The Miami Vice book was probably the easiest book I have written since it was all life experiences and didn't require me to create characters, or plots. It was an exciting time when the cocaine flowed and wild west type shootings were common place. Besides being the Glamor capital we were the Homicide capital and the Cocaine capital.

I wanted to put those memories to paper, maybe something left behind for my son. Although he's shown little or no interest in anything I've written, but maybe one day he'll read it.

I doubt I will get rich off this book, but I was proud of the time I served and I think the experience definitely opened my eyes to the real world we live in.

The Passion of Soccer

Visiting Colombia on vacation I got to experience the true passion of soccer. Playing were two big rival teams National of Medellin and Milionarios of  Bogota. Walking to the stadium we were greeted by a battalion of riot police in full gear. Blue smoke bombs exploding everywhere. A scene of controlled chaos. Six mounted police on horses rushed into the crowd to separate the two side of crazed fans. Going through the gate I was searched three times once against the wall assuming the position, which proved to be an interesting experience, being an ex-cop I´m used to making others assume the position. Once inside there were cops everywhere, as soon as a fight started the perpetrators were swarmed and quickly escorted out. The whole stadium erupted in team chants as the fans jumped up and down the whole stadium vibrated in tempo.
A beautiful stadium surrounded by majestic mountains it was the ultimate soccer experience.

What makes one a Writer

What makes one a writer? Just because you wrote a book or two are you a writer? Maybe or maybe not. It seems I´ve never been one to express myself vocally, but have always been able to express myself in my writing. The thoughts seem to just constantly flow like an open faucet, it´seems it has always been easier for me to write my thoughts out than expressing them in speech. I tended to run on the shy side as a kid, so writing was an easy way to express myself. Kicking out the first novel was a real challenge what seemed an impossible challenge, in the beginning, turned out to be not so bad in the end. So, it seems each book gets easier and easier as I continue down this road of creativity.

John Shane Wolf

My two Westerns are a little off the cuff, kind of like a Quentin Tarantino style. The main character is half Apache half white and is a bounty hunter. He has an arsenal of guns like the classic character from the Sabata movies. He gets stuck with an orphan so decides to teach the kid the trade. So now you have a bounty hunting duo. If you like the Spaghetti Westerns with Clint Eastwood you will probably enjoys these two books. If you're a western purest good guys wear white, bad guys wear black then you will probably not like these books. I am graphic on the violence and sex, I guess it's what I liked growing up. I miss those days and the Western movie selection is getting less and less.
If you liked Django or the Hateful Eight then you should enjoy these two books.

My other Writting

Besides writing novels I also maintain several blogs; The Zen of Money and Can We Save America. The blogs serve as a quick way to throw ideas and information out to the internet community. When I don't have time to work on a novel a quick blog insert can be a good substitute.

It keeps me writing when I don't have time to write. I can pretty much let whatever is on my mind just flow onto the blog. My first Blog Fixed gear maniacs had a pretty big following at the time when the fixed gear bicycles were the craze. That blog is still up and I still contribute to it occasionally. Since it's been a while since I have done any serious riding I just haven't been that motivated to write content for it.

The blogging really hasn't made me any money, but maybe it's pushed some readers to purchase one of my novels. The more I write the more ideas I get and the more creative I become so I guess it serves a purpose.
